Pamela Blaker of Waynesburg, PA, was among the honorees during Shale Media Group’s 2nd annual WING (Women In Natural Gas) Awards, an event to recognize achievements and contributions made by women in the oil and gas industry, held on Oct. 16 at the Holiday In, Monroeville.
Blaker is an owner of Direct Results BSP, Inc., located in Waynesburg, Greene County, PA. A Certified Women-Owned Business, Direct Results offers custom apparel with screen printing and embroidery on site, commercial signage and vinyl products, vehicle graphics and decals, promotional products and professional graphic design services. Blaker, who co-owns the business with Shelly Brown, says the growth and advancements in the energy industry in this region are largely responsible for the success and continuing expansion of Direct Results, which is considered to be the region’s preferred source for graphics, custom apparel and promotional needs by the energy industry.
“We recognized that this industry had both immediate and long term needs that we could meet, and we decided early on to invest in both the people and resources required to meet those needs. I consider it a privilege to serve the natural gas industry with the same passion and dedication most of these companies exhibit in their own work,” said Blaker. “The contribution responsible natural gas development has made to our local economy and employment in Pennsylvania and the Ohio Valley region is significant; and the impact on our nation’s independence and future is even greater. I’m proud to represent this industry,” she added.
The WING awards are presented annually to distinguished women in the energy industry, who are either employed in the shale oil and gas industry, or who “contribute to community outreach efforts; act as a role model for future women in energy; and display integrity, commitment and high standards in their daily work,” according to the Shale Media Group (SMG) announcement.
Billy Niesslein, Media Solutions Specialist with SMG, who presented the award to Blaker, said, “Pam’s a great person, active in the industry, supportive and an example of the dedication to service this industry demands. She works with all phases of the gas business, helping companies with marketing, public relations, branding, apparel, etc. Because of her outstanding work ethic and quality of service to her clients from small businesses to some major players in the industry, she’s earned the respect of them all.”
Shale Media Group, headquartered in Washington, PA, was established in 2008, and serves as a media outlet and coordinator of news and information for all concerns in the natural gas industry, both regionally and nationally. SMG disseminates information to over 10 million viewers per month. By blending marketing strategies, news and information delivery systems, SMG operates two dozen websites offering a one-stop-shop hub for the shale oil and gas information.

It was a great afternoon in historic, downtown Waynesburg at the Summer Open House Friday, June 6, 2014, presented by Waynesburg Prosperous & Beautiful, Inc. Our very own graphic designers/artists Molly Usher and Alaina Whetzel, captured 1st & 3rd place in the “Rock the Chalk” artist competition!
The event was sponsored by CONSOL Energy, with added support from Greene County Tourism, and coordinated by Jim & Linda Winegar of ArtBeat as part of the festivities in downtown Waynesburg. While nearly a dozen competing artists demonstrated their skills all along High Street, kids of all ages also had fun with freestyle chalk drawing on the sidewalks in front of Greene County Courthouse.
It was a great evening of fun, shopping and good food, too. The entire Direct Results Team says “Way to Go Molly & Alaina!”
We’re proud of our fabulous Graphic Design & Fine Artist team at Direct Results, including Molly Usher & Alaina Whetzel!

After conducting a nationwide survey of advertising specialty (also known as promotional product) distributors in July 2013, Counselor Magazine reported on the “state of the Industry, which included an announcement of the “Top Ten Fastest Growing” distributors in the country. The top ten largest growers, as measured by sales increases between 2010 and 2012, included Direct Results BSP, Inc., based in Waynesburg, Pa. Direct Results increased 102% over the period, ranking 9th in the top ten list.
“In an effort to meet our customer’s needs across the board and become the ‘go to’ source for all of their advertising, marketing and promotional products, we’ve expanded the services and products we represent, and that has translated into increased sales,” said Shelly Brown, co-owner of Direct Results. “And even more influential in our growth, I think, is that we have become more pro-active. We train our sales people to serve as consultants and strategists rather than order takers. We want to serve on the team of our customer companies – bringing ideas, opportunities and solutions to the table. We’ve also had a great response from the energy industry here in southwestern PA, which has made a significant impact on the regional economy.”
